Blas: Paraguay This festival is held in February. February is carnival time in
Paraguay. The tabloids of colors and dances like the polka add color to the
carnival of Paraguay. It is celebrated nationwide, and is celebrated in almost
all major towns and cities of Paraguay with great pomp and enthusiasm. However,
the Virgen de la Candelaria in Puno, held from 2 to 14 February is the most
exciting carnival.
Easter: Held in
March, this is one of the most popular festivals in Paraguay is very religious.
Easter is celebrated with great solemnity.
San Juan Festival:
Also known as the Feast of San Juan, this is the biggest festival in Paraguay.
It is celebrated on June 24. Although it took place in almost all major cities
of Paraguay, the festival is best seen in the national capital of Asuncion. The
nature of the celebration of this festival changes from city to city Paraguay.
However, fire walking on hot coals and embers and burning an effigy of Judas
Iscariot remain common rituals. Great food almost always accompany the
celebrations.
